Reference Format

Yes, it’s tedious, but it's important to reference the information provided. In general we suggest that you use the MLA (Modern Language Association) format style for your references. You can use other formats if you want (e.g., APA). But the MLA format is probably the easiest to use for information you get from the internet – which we expect will often be source used for this website:

Author last name, first name, Co-author first name last name. "Title in quotation marks.” Source in italics.

Year published. Retrieve on the most recent date of internet access from URL address.

        For example:

Twain, Mark, “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” A Glassbook Classic. 1884. Retrieved

                      on March 17, 2014 from http://contentserver.adobe.com/store/books/HuckFinn.pdf

No matter what format you use, the point of a reference is to be sure that a reader can find the source of your edits or additions to a Document. As long as the reader can do that, you have a good reference. A good website for a detailed understanding of the MLA format is Perdue University’s Online Writing Lab at https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/
